Lily Blanket/Afghan (PDF Crochet Pattern)

Lily is named after my mother. Most of my previous blanket designs were named after my grandmother Bessie who was an inspiration to me. She died at the age of 94 and was still knitting and crocheting blankets up until the day she died.

Lily was Bessie’s daughter, she carried on the tradition and made crochet blankets.

Sizes
These are suggested sizes and yarn quantities, but you may make Lily in any size you like.

Lap blankets - approx. 40 x 40 ins,149 motifs (13 rows wide, alternate rows of 11 & 12 long).
Single bed - approx. 40 x 80 ins, 292 motifs (13 rows wide, alternate rows of 22 & 23 long).
Double bed - approx. 60 x 80 ins, 472 motifs (21 rows wide, alternate rows of 22 & 23 long).
King bed - approx. 80 x 80 ins, 607 motifs (27 rows wide, alternate rows of 22 & 23 long).

You will need
The Natural Dye Studio’s Dazzle HT 4 ply/Sock yarn OR The Natural Dye Studio’s Dazzling 4 ply/Sock yarn OR a combination of the two.
Lily is best done in many different colours, as shown there are over 25 colours. A minimum of 15 is recommended.
Lap blanket - the equivalent of 7 skeins
Single bed – the equivalent of 14 skeins
Double bed – the equivalent of 21 skeins
King bed – the equivalent of 28 skeins
If you use a single colour then:
Single bed - 13 skeins
Double bed - 20 skeins
King size bed - 26 skeins

Crochet hook in size 2.5mm.
Tapestry needle for sewing in loose ends.

Tension
The blocked motifs measure approx. 4 inches from point to point.
It is important to get the tension correct so you will need to make several swatches and block them to establish the correct hook size for you.
