In collaboration with John Arbon of Fibre Harvest, who spins at Coldharbour mill in Devon, we are creating an exclusive range of limited edition British blended wool.
Each month John will spin us 10 kgs of 4-Ply Sock/Sport weight wool.
The wool will be a blend of British Bluefaced Leicester (50%) and a mystery British breed (50%). The mystery wool will be at John's discretion and we will be just as excited to see each batch as you will be to see the final product when it pops through your post box.
Bluefaced Leicester has been chosen as luxury fibre base of the blend due its exceptional qualities of softness, lustre and strength, and all round versatility, which will tempre any courseness experienced from the mystery fibre.
Over the year we intend to offer some exciting mystery fibres, and already we know that in the pipeline are Wensleydale, Poll Dorset and Zwartbles.
The club membership is limited to around 90 places as we are only having 10 kgs spun in each batch.
It will run in 3-month segments, with the next quarterly subscription going on-line at the start of the current quarter i.e. July/Sept 2012 will be available on line from 1st April 2012. Each subscription will buy the member a 100g skein of yarn each month, equating to 300g over the course of the subscription period.
We intend to run a waiting list for unsuccessful applicants to ensure better success the following quarter - please email us your details if this is the case.
The intention is to increase membership in 2013 if the club is as successful as we hope it will be.
Any remainig stock will be available to club members only - please contact if your interested.
All the colours of the dyed wool will be inspired by the colour scheme below, however some months the yarn will remain undyed if we feel the natural colour enhances the theme.
Next summer, date to be confirmed, there will be 2 patterns published exclusively for the club, a crochet blanket from Amanda Perkins of The Natural Dye Studio, and a knitted top from the published designer Judy Furlong.
As soon as there is enough variety of finished wool the designing will begin.
